We were introduced to the client of this project by the architects, Stevens Lawson, and engaged to develop the interior. The brief was simply to create a soulful and spiritual house; monastic, with a sense of serenity.
The result was a creatively satisfying project on every level. We furnished the house in its entirety, right down to the last details of towels, cutlery and bed linen.
Seeking a simple yet beautifully crafted take on materials and furnishings, the majority of the furniture in the house was custom made in a Shaker style and made in Walnut by local craftsman Grant Bailey. We also commissioned handmade wooden blinds from Japan and custom made NZ wool carpet rugs and walnut beds made by Jason Lowe.
